WWLT 2007 Testimonials

I really had no idea what to expect from the day of solitude. It ended up being very freeing to know that no one was going to need or ask anything of me. I mainly read through Song of Songs & felt like God showed me freshly how intimate He desired me to be in trusting Him for my identity in Christ. I realized how much I pull back when it comes to seeing things as He has said He sees them, when I have experiences, fears and pain that shout out for me to believe them instead. The Lord seemed to use the day of solitude to calm me more than anything else. He gave me a fresh appreciation for how He wants me to come away with Him throughout the day, week or year.

The basic message God spoke was that "if you fail under pressure your strength is not very great." Pr. I thought about what circumstances tempted me to fail, what thinking patterns led to failure, what character weaknesses contributed to failure. I thought about how God is my strength, through His word, prayer and right living. I thought about what a transformed Janel would look like, act like, etc. In the book we read to prepare for our time, the main character is called Much Afriad. I gave myself a name as well - Loves comfort or Wilts with pressure - and thought about a transformed name - Loves God. Because a woman who loves God is willing to forego comfort in order to obey Him. A woman who loves God will withstand the pressure knowing God gives her strength and redeems her life. Someone named Loves God does not fear the rejection of the world because she is caught up in God's love.
